Geek’d Reviews Bravo Team!

When I first saw the advertisement and E3 demos for Bravo Team, I felt a surge of excitement for the future of VR FPS titles. I’ve been waiting for more modern, tactical FPS titles like Rainbow Six to hit the Playstation VR but development is pretty slow right now. However, when I started this bad boy up, I was a little underwhelmed. While fascination comes from being inside any virtual world, the effects wear off pretty fast in Bravo Team.

Overall, the action is fun, but very stagnant feeling. You move through cities hiding behind cover only to pop up arcade style to shoot the enemies. It’s very satisfying once you get used to the controls; if you’ve used the PS VR Aim controller before, you’ll enjoy using it for this title. You can use the dualshock but it’s a little clunky.

Sadly, the setting never changes drastically which adds to the game feeling very boring after 30 minutes or so. You’re either inside very empty warehouses or outside in a street filled with a suspicious amount of cars. That mixed with very similar character models makes the game feel super generic and half-hearted. The audio is pretty generic as well but still manages to make you feel immersed in a battle zone. The entire game feels like an effort to bring something fantastic and realistic to PS VR but just falls short in a lot of areas. It’s a step in a direction that I’d like to see and I can’t wait for more titles with higher quality to come out.

Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun if you like arcade style shooters and full immersion. Should you play it? Yes. Should you wait until it drops dramatically in price? Definitely.

What do you think?
