Name:
Courtney Allen, aka Royal Court Cosplay
Favorite genre/characters/mythos?
I love a wide variety of characters, genres, and mythos. My all time top comic character is Wonder Woman, I absolutely love her rebirth comics. As for my favorite genre, I LOVE thrillers and action, although I have a huge soft spot for romance. My top three fandoms (I love many more than this) are Disney, Star Wars, and Pokémon.
How did you get started?
I have always been a fan girl. Always loving makeup and dressing like my favorite characters. About 4 years ago I got my first cosplay, Erza from Fairytail. A year later, I got Snow White, that was when I knew I could never go back to regular clothes. Now, I have over 35 different costumes and characters, plus my own princess company, Storybook Princess.
Who or what is your inspiration?
Traci Hines has been my inspiration since I found her way back in the day. She has the most unique and beautiful characters I have seen. Courtoon and Amber Arden are also two amazing women worth checking out. Cheeky Cheetah Cosplay (Anita Holmes) has been the biggest influence to me. Her kind personality, always helping others, and beautiful work inspire me everyday. Whenever I need help, she is always there!
Favorite materials or techniques?
The making of armor has become my favorite. I only wish I had started sooner!
Sewing never gets old though, I am still learning more everyday.
Favorite resource you use for learning?
The Nerd Alert Academy in Tulsa. It is my absolute favorite place to craft among other cosplayers!
Any tips for beginners?
Always be open to suggestions, have courage in yourself, and be kind to all. Also, come out to Nerd Alert Academy if you are in the Tulsa area! We are always helping each other and want everyone to feel welcomed. Lastly, Pinterest almost never fails.
