Geek’d Reviews: ‘Hawken’ for Consoles

Originally released in 2012, ‘‘ was a free-to-play game for PC. Since then, it hasn’t been getting a ton of attention. However, it was released on Xbox One and PS4 today and, so far, has been a great, refreshing experience. For those who don’t know, Hawken is a mech shooter with mechanics similar to ‘Titanfall’. Though free-to-play, it doesn’t have the common pay-to-win feel. Customization and purchasing can still be done with in game credits and the progression system feels fair. The mechs handle extremely well and the firefights are really fun. Gameplay is fast paced though pretty controlled and the unreal engine graphics are well done. Overall, the game is definitely worth your time. The only problem is the server connection issues; however, we’re hoping that will be fixed since its only day one on consoles. It can still be frustrating when you’re in the middle of a firefight and you lose connection. At the end of the day, what do you have to lose? Definitely one of the more fun free-to-play titles.

What do you think?
