Ice Cream Man, an Image Comic, written by W. Maxwell Prince and Illustrated by Martin Morazzo will get the chance at the big time in a T.V. adaptation in the works.
The comic first released in January 2018, but feels like it should already be considered a cult classic. Ice Cream Man is a horror-fantasy anthology narrated by the omnipresent Ice Cream Man. The comic weaves a dark tapestry of tales from his truck, as the Ice Cream Man dissects the layers of the suburban American psyche with every story ending in a macabre twist.
(I highly recommend it.)
The adaptation is hoped to be a success by Universal Cable Prods. The writers, Max and Adam Reid, will serve as executive producers alongside Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Jake Wagner of Good Fear Films. It will be produced for premium cable and streaming services.
UCP also produces SYFY’s hit Happy!, based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel from Image. With UCP’s success in their comic book adaptation portfolio and Ice Cream Man’s dynamic storyline, the TV adaption is one to watch for, for those who have read the comic and those who have not.
