Intellivision Announces New Console

The Retro Console is Making a Comeback With a New Family-Focused Design.

The Portland Retro Gaming Expo brought news from Tommy Tallarico about Intellivision’s latest console, the Amico.

“We are creating console that parents want to buy, not that they were asked to buy.” With the current state of the video game industry in mind, with complex controllers and concepts, Intellivision wants to bring people of all ages together to enjoy the beauty of video games.

All games to be released for the Intellivision Amico will be rated E for Everyone and will be reasonably priced from $2.99 to $7.99 a piece with no downloadable content or in-game purchases. This concept brings back the refreshing times of when a game you bought is the game you got and there was no pressure to tack on your dollars to continue a game you thought you finished.

Although no official titles for games have been released, the console is hoping to see new versions of classic Intellivision games such as “Utopia,” Shark! Shark!,” and “SNAFU” along with classic Atari games such as “Pong,” “Asteroids,” and “Dracula.” However, along with the renovation of the classics, there are 20 brand new and exclusive titles planned for launch to be announced.

The Amico console will retail for $149 to $179 and comes with 2 wireless controllers that feature color touchscreen and on board charging. An app will also allow up to 8 players to join in using their phones or tablets as controllers.

The release is set for the aesthetically pleasing date of “1010 2020” or “October 10, 2020” in layman’s terms.
