Geek’d Reviews: Disney’s The Mandalorian!

Our team sat down at watched the new Star Wars series Mandalorian on Disney+ and shared our thoughts and opinions on the first episode.

The Mandalorian worth a watch from beginning to end.The first episodes starts with  Mandelorian following a tracker to a bounty and fighting three thugs to capture the one he was sent to get. This a mysterious bounty hunter that never reveals his face and is just as dangerous as any other madelorian in the Star Wars universe. The dialogue he has between others reveal enough to know that he is confident in a fight and the Mandalorian people are known as battle hardened warriors. I can’t wait for more of this series the ending of the first episode from the shootout to the baby reveal is enough to keep me entranced and wanting more. After the last two movies I’ve felt so so toward starters but this show has brought me back into the series – Riley

The first episode of The Mandalorian left off with me wanting to see more. The show gives off a Space Cowboy feeling from all of the scenery and costumes to Mando the bounty hunter and his actions and lack of words. The first episode of the show couldn’t have started the season off better, there was plenty of action and we get enough information to piece together what’s happening and a bit about who this bounty hunter is. The only thing that did not make a ton of sense was the learning to ride the blurrg to cross to get where he’s going, I honestly think they added that to add a bit more of a western feel to it the whole having to learn and keep trying and become familiar with the animal. I am interested in learning more about the baby Yoda like creature they find since they are so rare. But overall was a great opening to the season and I can’t wait to find out more about what’s going to happen. – Brooke

The show that new and old fans across the globe have been dying to see is finally out. On November 12, 2019 the pilot episode of the Mandalorian aired on Disney + and had us all by storm.

The show doesn’t tease and draws us straight into an action packed sci fi wild west bar scene. I think it’s what we all really wanted the Han solo movie to be, yet didn’t receive.

The Mandolorian takes place shortly after the fall of the empire, and delves into a less seen side of the galaxy. In the main movies we really only follow the jedi, the sith, and the larger picture of good versus evil. With the Mandalorian I think fans are excited to see the gritty and gray world of the Star Wars universe featured.

The episode was beautifully executed. From character/environment designs, visual effects, and cinematography we’re only left wanting more. The plot was familiar, but fresh at the same time. I certainly did not expect what the first episode secretly had in store, but I know I definitely want to see where the Mandalorian goes. – Eli

The mandalorian brings us the space western we’ve all been waiting for. It starts with the nameless protagonist walking into a bar and picking up a bounty. All we are really shown in the first episode is that he is a bounty hunter, a very good one. The show has a good air of mystery surrounding it’s main character, his intentions and the intentions of those giving him the bounty. Mandelorion feels very star wars but also remains to be its own thing. – Nathan

One of the most anticipated spin-off shows in recent years, if not ever has arrived, and it certainly was no disappointment. In fact, the style and tone is reminiscent of how I anticipated the arrival of Solo: A Star Wars Story when I heard the term “space western”, but didn’t receive. This episode was a great start to what might be the main draw into the Disney Plus streaming service, certainly is mine. The cinematic quality of the visual and practical effects, and the impressive combination, are such a relief and made an inspiring leap to say the least. The characters still have room to grow, but have been developed more than enough; I know there’s more to come. I’ve always known Jon Favreau, as a writer, more than a director or when people knew him as a comedy actor. He surprisingly was the right person to entrust a stylized, faithful, entertaining, continuing tale about a quiet, space cowboy. The characters win you over the second they arrive on screen, or will be the end. Pedro Pascal plays the new iconic, stoic, reticent, antihero for a television series, or stream series, the Mandalorian. He doesn’t say much, but when he does you hear and remember. One of my favorite character moments is with a bounty hunting droid, IG-11. The fate of this droid is an interesting one, because I’d like a friendly alliance at some point, but his fate belongs to that fate.Humor isn’t a constant trait, but when it steps in, you’ll feel the chuckle. One of the benefits from a television series I agree has over film I’ll agree is, the episodes don’t follow a formula, they can tell stories in unpredictable styles. The ending of the episode was a genius decision. It was lovable and exciting, and it was one of the bet examples of fan service turned brilliant cliffhanger and story direction. Beginning and ending in unusual or unexpected ways. That’s what makes cinematic entertainment so alluring, engaging, and, like it’s name, entertaining. I know there’s a chance it can only get better by the material I haven’t seen yet, the characters and situations already released to the public knowledge, yet I’m hooked into staying consistent. I have a feeling the next episode will conclude some story arc of some kind, due to next coming so soon, I’ll be there. – Kobe
