Something is Killing the Children issue #1

Something is Killing the Children issue #1 is a comic written by James Tynion IV, about a group of kids who are mysteriously killed. It starts with the group playing a game of ‘Truth or Dare’ that ends with one of them telling a scary story and asking another, “truth or dare”. The next panel cuts away from this before we can see what he says, and we find that the other children have been killed, gruesomely; and that many others have been going missing. The story follows James, an outcast type who is now dealing with the effects of watching his friends get killed, and also a mysterious woman who we know little about, other than she carries two machetes and has definitely killed something, or someone. Werther Dell’Edera’s illustrations and Miquel Muertos coloring both work incredibly well with the story and give a bright, unique look and energy to what you would expect visually from a horror comic. The only real fault of the comic is that it ends. It has everything that a first issue should: the story is intriguing, the visuals colorful and pleasing to look at and it leaves you wanting more. I can say that I definitely want more, and am very much looking forward to reading Issue #2 when it is released on October 30th.
