Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Has Been Decided!

Along with a Pre-Order Character No One Expected…

The post-launch lineup for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been decided by what seems to be Nintendo alone – to the dismay of the voting audience.

At last weeks Nintendo Direct Presentation it was announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will  have five fighter packs as downloadable content. Each pack will contain a new fighter, a new stage, and new music.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC line-up is now complete,” said Masahiro Sakurai November 6th on his Twitter, adding “I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.” This came as a shock for those who remembered polling in the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot in 2015 for Super Smash Bros for the Wii U/Nintendo DS.

Sakurai also made it a point to ask fans not to tweet him their suggestions. Yes, Waluigi super fans, he was talking to you.

“It’s great to dream about your favorite character joining the battle and I appreciate your passion, but please try to stay on topic when replying to tweets and refrain from flooding us, and other users, with requests when we’re not specifically asking for feedback,” he said on Twitter, followed with a polite “Thank you.”

Nintendo and Sakurai also finished up the launch-day fighter lineup for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, adding two new fighters, Ken from Street Fighter, and Incineroar from Pokemon – and an unexpected pre-order fighter, Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros… for some reason.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is set to be released December 7th, 2018 and all DLC packs will be released before February 2020. Until then, I’ll be exercising my thumbs in preparation.
