The Marked starts out as a young girl goes into a coffee shop and the shop owner, knowing that she loves to draw, hands her a flyer for a contest to draw a picture of what she sees. To the ordinary eye its just a picture of the side profile of a girl but to her she sees something else. She draws it out and submits it and next thing she knows she has an interview with the school. She then realizes it’s not what she thinks it is her drawing is special its her mark . They offer her to join and work on her mark she does and it gets marked onto her once perfected. She’s told stories of how they fought in WWII and how they fought beside Shangne and Mages against Hitlers Demonic forces on the occult level but on Earth the allies were still fighting the Nazis. Although they are not currently fighting any battles they are recruiting for the future. The marked glyphs are all natural until Liza on of the marked changes the young girls glyphs into a hybrid glyphs. The young girl could make her visions come to life but with no contol over them. They kick Liza out of the house supposably stripping her of her marks which give her the powers.
Overall I really enjoyed the story, it has great art. The Marked is almost like a cult in a way or even a outcasted group of heroes that no one knows about, they are not the typical heroes they don’t get involved in mundane events or issues. They only act when demonic forces or forces that threaten the occult level or themselves. The next issue comes out in November and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the future and what is going to get The Marked back into action.
