‘World of Warcraft: Legion’ Review Part 3!

Welcome back to our next and final part to our World of Warcraft Legion series. To finish things off for all you readers we are going to take a look at some parts you have been waiting for, such as PVP changes and some other notable goodies.

PVP

PVP has been considered one of the two main halves of World of Warcraft since its beginning. Unlike its counterpart (PVE) PVP has always been about player vs. player, pushing one’s self to outperform and effectively beat down the opposing player.  And with doing so, players are rewarded for their prowess with gear rewards and other items to show their prestige. With Legion the word “prestige” takes a whole new meaning with a new system. In Legion, players will have a new leveling system built around PVP endeavors. Acquiring kills and winning PVP matches will add to one’s personal “Honor” level. While gaining honor, players will have unique talent abilities that are designed solely for PVP combat. This is where players will get their roots, snares, and CC breaking abilities to use against other players. As you gain levels you gain access to more tiers of the PVP talents allowing you add to your performance.

PVP1Capping out at level fifty in honor will allow the player to reset (or “Prestige”) the levels back to one if they wish, adding to their bragging rights since they gain achievements, some cosmetic rewards, and other goodies showing their accomplishments as a PVPer. On top of a new honor system with talents, Gear will undergo a major change. A players gear level will not affect their effectiveness in combat as much as it has in the past. Having higher “level” gear will make you stronger than those lower than you,

but only by a small percentage. This change is intended to bring back the need for players to play skillfully to compete instead of just using their gear to overwhelm lesser geared players, “leveling” (heh) the playing field. Also, earning PVP gear will differ in the fact you don’t spend PVP currency to acquire it anymore. Earning gear will come through PVPing in general, winning matches will give you strongboxes that can contain gear. Participating in higher rated PVP formats will yield stronger PVP gear. Overall, these changes are a mix of the old days of WoW PVP with the new. Very soon all you combative players out there will see for yourselves.

Professions

Professions1

Another nice addition is the overall to the professions system. First and foremost is the UI. Redesigned to be easier to navigate and find specific recipes to craft, as well as being able to look up ones you dont have and where to get them. For guilds there is also a nice feature that allows players to see who is able to make a certain item withing their guilds, so no more “Hey can you make this?” whispers all over the place. New Legion professions will also add ranks. Labeled one to three stars, as you make multiples of the same item, the rank will go up making you more effecient at crafting said item. Throughout the Legion their will also be specific quests for professions to liven up the task of crafting. Personally, I cant wait for these changes since I craft on all my charatcers. Hopefully all you crafters out there will get some glee from it like me.

Transmogrification System

Transmog_System2

Transmog_System1

A personal favorite being changed in Legion. The transmogrification or “transmog” system has been completely redone. In the collections tab on WoW, transmog now has its own tab! What does this mean? Essentially, it acts as a library for gear and weapons you have obtained. Once you have collected said item, it will be added to the system, as long as the class you are on is able to appropriately wear it (warriors with plate, mages with cloth etc….) On top of an awesome library to virtually store your appearances you can also save wardrobe combinations you pick out, similar to saving gear sets for changing specs. All you have to do is visit your local transmog ethereal to do so, and pay a fee of course. What? They cant do this magical hookus pokus for free. Now, the gear you have already collected and stored in your bank or void storage will automatically be added to your library when you log in after the already-in-effect pre-patch. Any future gear you acquire from old or current content will be added accordingly. Oh, also the library is ACCOUNT WIDE! Whooooooo!!! Sorry I get excited over that. Anyways, for all you fashionistas out there, rejoice! And get out there and expand your wardrobe!

Sad to say, but that concludes our series over Legion. I hope you have read through this and become more informed on whats coming to WoW. For the new and returning players out there, get to the battlefield! The Burning Legion cometh, and won’t halt unless you do your part and push back the demon tide! Legion releases tomorrow, so check your local geek retailer and join the fray! #geekdtv
