Deadpool completely delivers. On all levels. Rapid fire dialogue. Gun fights. Fist fights. Knives. Lots of blood. Some nudity. Innuendo. Large amounts of innuendo. Gina Carano. It’s a comic book story, and it never forgets where it comes from or who its audience is, which is why it works so well.
Deadpool’s unique editing style, 4th wall format and incredible blend of CG are elements that are being overlooked in the present marketing campaign, which instead focuses on the R rating and Deadpool’s own brand of humor. The story is completely believable and enjoyable, full of heart, wit and enough action to fill 2 movies.
As an added bonus, the X-men have never looked better! The costumes are spot on, and Colossus and WarHead were very impressive in their performance and CGI enhancements when in action. If all of the X-men movies would take a cue from this, the franchise would regain some confidence from fans.
At the end of the day, Deadpool is worth the money to see. In fact, I plan on seeing it 2-3 times just to send the studios the message that this is how these kind of movies should be made. For fans. I encourage you to vote with your dollar as well, and maybe we can begin thinning the herd.
Finally, please repeat after me: Deadpool is not for kids. Dead pool is not for kids. Fortunately, Deadpool is definitely for the rest of us.
