Bojack Horseman Season 5 Review’d!

A Little Darker Than Previous Seasons, But Doesn’t Skimp on the Humor.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s story of Hollywoods most famous talking horse brings back characters that we all know and love while introducing new characters and expanding upon them both. The show uses satire in covering topics like sexuality, the “me too” movement, and substance abuse. The series is both funny and incredibly real for 2D animation. This is one of the only animated shows that make you feel for the protagonist, and Season 5 finally answers questions we’ve had for several years now. The highlight of the season is episode six, “Free Churro”. This episode takes very sad topic and makes it funny and relatable. Bojack has to deliver the eulogy at a funeral, which is both touching and awkward in the way that only Bojack could deliver. Overall this season is another great example of why I love this show, with characters both relatable, funny and slightly surreal. I’m definitely ready for Season 6, which as a bonus is implied. If you’re new to the show, start at the beginning on Netflix. Otherwise for the initiated, the wait has been worth it.
