Be prepared: Ghost in the Shell will be big on the cosplay scene for the foreseeable future. Luxuriously rich in detail, design and style, the only part lacking was story. Now, don’t freak, it was good. But right from the beginning you are pulled in with a symphony of visual delights, anime fan or not. As far as plot goes, GITS will definitely be a treat to fans of the anime as it was about 60% true to the original 1995 movie. However, the story seemed a little choppy, with some minor logic flaws that focused on inserting major character development in between some key action scenes. As we follow Section 9 during their investigation, the characters are introduced and are handled well. Scarlett Johansson is no rookie to action movies, and it really pays off here. Her take on the ‘Major’ is fantastic, lethal and vulnerable. The movie is satisfying in so many regards, and even leaves some room for a sequel (We hope so!) Definitely worth seeing multiple times in the theater.
