Gale Ann Hurd. She’s the producer of gems like ‘The Terminator’ and more recently ‘The Walking Dead’ series. So if a movie like this is under her thumb, she has my undivided attention. At first glance with the original trailer, I was a bit underwhelmed with the whole ‘kids being chased by killer in park’ scenario. Nothing new here. Then I found out about Hurd’s involvement. And then this trailer dropped. The music. The voice over. The slightly out of focus-film grain effect. This is everything I grew up on, and they nailed it where many others have failed. So, consider me interested. Show opens up on Friday, which means we’ll be doing a review soon. If we’re lucky, us movie lovers will have a new slasher franchise to celebrate along with the old standards… because they can’t keep doing those Myers/Chucky/Voorhees/Kruger reboots forever. It’s definitely time for some new blood, and this movie looks like it aims to deliver it.
